Policies

2020-2021 Policies and Procedures

Student Drop-off and Pick-up:

  • Please walk your dancer up the steps on the left of the building and wait on the back patio.
  • Please do not arrive more than 3-5 minutes before class begins unless prior arrangements have been made with an instructor. Also, please be sure to pick up your child promptly after class has ended.
  • A teacher will meet you at the back door, give students hand sanitizer, and escort the dancer into the studio.
  • Bring your student dressed and ready for class with proper dance attire, shoes, and hair pulled back.
  • Dancers must arrive for their class already wearing their dance attire. Restrooms cannot be used for changing. Please wear cover-ups when appropriate.
  • Students age 6 and up are required to wear a mask while entering and exiting the building. Younger dancers are not required, but may do so at the parent’s discretion. No dancer is required to wear a mask while actively dancing.
  • Due to government restrictions regarding the Covid-19 pandemic, our waiting area will be closed this dance year. This will be reevaluated as guidelines change.
  • Please notify us if your child will be missing class for any reason.
  • Check your child's bag before leaving the studio to make sure they have all of their belongings, as well as for any important notes that have been sent home with your child.

 Student Conduct:

  • Arrive on time and ready for class
  • Follow the dress code (see below)
  • All cell phones must be turned off during class and should not be used at any point during class
  • No gum is allowed in the studio
  • No food or drink is allowed in the studio with the exception of water bottles

Dress Code:

Girls - All students should wear leotard and tights, unitard or biker shorts. Absolutely no gym shorts or sweats. A close-fitting t-shirt or sweatshirt is permitted during the warm-up when it is cold out. All hair must be pulled completely up and secured away from the face.

Boys - A t-shirt and shorts or sweats are permitted. Their clothes should be comfortable but not too big.

Shoes:

All students must have the appropriate shoes by the second week of lessons. All students need pink leather full or split sole ballet shoes. No satin ballet slippers (bedroom type slipper) are permitted. Students in preschool, beginner, and intermediate dance need flat black patent-leather tap shoes (tap shoe ribbons must be replaced with loops of black elastic). Advanced dance students will need black flat jazz style tap shoes and black jazz shoes. Tumbling students should be barefoot during class.

Fundraiser:

Fundraiser information will be distributed during the first few weeks of class. This is a great way to help decrease the costs associated with the recital. Student participation is not mandatory; however, students will earn costume credit for each pre-determined amount of merchandise sold. Money should be collected at the time the order is taken. All orders must be paid for with one check, or money order, when the order is turned in. We will only accept checks from our dance families.

Inclement Weather:

In some cases of inclement weather, we may be forced to cancel classes due to student safety. Please check our website or call the studio one hour before your scheduled class time.

** ONE CLASS MAY BE CANCELLED DURING THE DANCE YEAR WITHOUT BEING RESCHEDULED OR MADE UP. **

Class Observations (Watch Week):

Due to government restrictions regarding the Covid-19 pandemic, we are unable to schedule class observation weeks at this time. This policy will be reevaluated as guidelines change.

Recitals:

This is a wonderful opportunity for our students to showcase their talents and hard work. Dates and times will be announced as soon as they have been set. In the past, our recital has usually been the weekend before Memorial Day.

** ALL BALANCES FOR THE DANCE YEAR MUST BE PAID IN FULL A WEEK BEFORE THE RECITALS IN ORDER FOR YOUR CHILD TO PARTICIPATE IN THE DANCE RECITALS. **

Web Site:

Student pictures will periodically appear (without names) on our Web site. If you do not want your child's picture to appear on our Web site, please let us know in writing.
