Ms. Sonja Owner/director

Ms. Sonja is celebrating her 12th year as owner of Dance Express! She began taking dance at the age of three at Dance Express from her aunt, Tara Jurgens. In middle school, she was asked to be a demonstrator for younger classes and from there progressed to teaching and choreographing throughout high school and college.

She graduated from NKU with a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism and a minor in Dance. After college, she continued to teach and choreograph for Dance Express under the ownership of her aunt, Tara Jurgens. 

In 2013, Ms. Sonja took over ownership of Dance Express and became the 3rd generation to own this family business. Over the years, she has attended numerous dance conventions, taken classes from professional dancers and choreographers, taught dance in preschools and schools, and choreographed for musicals. During her first year as owner of Dance Express, Ms. Sonja formed the first Dance Teams at Dance Express and has received awards and judge's recognition for her choreography. 

Ms. Sonja lives in Independence with her husband, three kids and cat. She loves coming to the studio each day and watching her students grow as dancers!
